7:31 am - Great new Forum

random_element
I've found a wonderful new forum online discussing Christian beliefs. It's mostly Jehovah's Witness, but as someone who isn't a Witness, I still find it very uplifting. It's very easy to discuss beliefs across different belief styles and look over scriptures and breaking events. Check it out if you want http://www.paradisecafediscussions.net/index.php

The only thing they ask is to keep an open mind, don't be argumentive, debate in a kind manner and they really don't appreciate "antichrist" messages (Satanic).

pseudobsequious
Hello.

My name is Jenny, and I am new to the world of LJ and looking for like-minded people to share thoughts with.

I thought that by introducing myself on the communities that I belong to would be more effective, and hopefully have a better turn out than if I simply went to an "add me" community and ended up getting a barrage of people who were not at all what I am looking for.

I do apologize if this is not allowed in your communities, I am just hoping to find some open minded people with something of substance to say. I love to surround myself with diverse lifestyles, opinions and beliefs... so please feel free to drop me a line...

Thank you for your time.

8:33 pm - some questions for everyone

ragbagchud
Hello!

I am a high school student from Ontario, taking a grade 12 sociology class. I am currently doing an independent study about religion and social institutions/status, etc. The information I gather will be given to my teacher, presented to my socio class, then deleted. The semester will be over soon, and I won't have any reason to keep these surveys.

I realize that the questions I ask don't seem to apply to a religious context. They pertain more to societal institutions, not religion or spirituality. I’m going to link the two in my presentation. I will be very grateful to anyone who fills this out, in as much or as little detail as you like! If something feels intrusive or personal, feel free to say so or to leave the answer blank.

What is your age?
Physical gender?
Faith or religious denomination?
How and in what fields were you educated?
Are you currently employed? What is your profession?
Was this your chosen job? If not, what was?
Are you a member of any clubs, groups or teams?
Name some hobbies or interests.
Do you donate money to any charities or organizations? Which ones?
Do you volunteer, or contribute time to your community?
Have you ever had any major health related problems?

Again, many thanks to anyone who has taken time to read and respond to this survey!

Please Include Aaron Schmitt Into Your prayers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cousin Aaron, who I and our family love very much was assaulted and now is in the hospital with severe Brain damage. We are hoping and praying he will come out of the hospital alive and with very little disability. Statistics say he may live but will live the life nearly of a vegetable. He is a very sweet and kind 25 year old, who has a daughter and a life full of plans. I know that things happen for a reason, and god's will is going to take place, but miracles do happen, and we are all praying that Aaron will come out of this okay. Please, please include Aaron Schmitt into your prayers as he is very well loved by freinds and family and he needs all the help and prayers that he can get!!!!!!!

god bless you all!

Is anybody out there? I joined this community because it had a cool name and seemed like a cool place, but now I realize that there's only been one post this year and two since last summer. Is this just a vacuum? Is there anybody out there?

ano_nymi_t I am in need of a priest or a shrink. Since I have neither, I am using lj to annonymously confess to an evil thing that I have done.

I got pregnant on purpose to make my boyfriend commit to me. I know how wrong this was. In fact, while I was doing it I got hit with a huge wave of guilt and, well, reality and knew I shouldn't do it. And at that moment I knew it had worked and it was too late.

I am not asking to be forgiven. I know it was wrong, and unforgivable. My concience has been railing me since it happened. But I cannot tell anyone I know. I am too ashamed. I needed to tell someone, though. So it will be here, a public entry to anyone who happens upon it.

Hi, all ...

I'd like to invite anyone interested to the new community I created: questionofgod

It's for the discussion/debate of the Christian faith. Both believers and non-believers are welcome to voice their thoughts and opinions.

Take a look!

Note to maintainer: If you'd like me to delete this promotion, lemme know :)

Thank you thank you thank you.

Thank you to darkmoon (from whom I got the link) and firinel from whom darkmoon got this link.

Thank you to all my loving, accepting Christian friends.

Thanks to my Catholic mom for not raising me to believe that Christians are the only ones worthy of saving. Thanks to my sister's Catholic priest who showed me that some Catholics are very friendly and accepting of folks who aren't Catholic or straight.

Thanks to Madeleine L'Engle who told a student at Wheaton College, who said that Gandhi wouldn't go to heaven because he wasn't Christian, that the student could go to heaven, she wanted to go where Gandhi went.

I'm only moderately pagan (I'm quite a blend) and I believe heaven and hell are right here, right now. I'm not sure what happens after we die, and I don't believe we'll ever know, but I don't think that if there is something else, and there is a loving deity overseeing things, that a loving deity could put people into a hell forever. And if there isn't a loving deity, then what does it matter?

But anyway, I said there was a link, and here it is. This post is a piece written by a Christian who is exhorting other Christians to gain some knowledge and understanding, and to quit harrassing Pagans.

forcefullyglad Well, things have kinda died off in here. So I thought I;d bring up a short subject that anyone can talk about from personal experience or from someone they know.

If you cliam to be a certain relgion right now, what is it that made you be that religion? Was it a conversion from another religion? Do you feel you were born into it? Or is it just something you decided on your own? If it was a decision or a conversion, explain a little bit of your story of how it came about.

If there is not much responce to this, I will probably eventually disable the community. So heres hoping this draws up some conversation.

10:34 pm - New Community

awccmfan
I have recently created a community called changeyourworld. I really cant touch on everything i want out of this community. You can read the bio and the first post I made for more info, but this is a community that is dedicated to equality, cultural awareness, righting wrongs and standing up for your beliefs. I love the bio for this group which is what compelled me to join and to post this message I have high hopes for this community and if it sounds at all interesting to you, please check out changeyourworld for LOTS more info on what the group is and what it can become
Thank you,
~A.W.

This seems so silly, onlime communities and such, but what does it matter?
I'm an American Christian, lucky moi.
I grew up in Egypt for 7 years.
Interfaith dialogue is fascinating to me, so drop me a line. I'm a stickler for Bohemian ideals and such, how exciting, mmm? Its all good...
